A Water Intake Point is a facility in 112 Operator provided by the Facilities DLC. It can be placed on the map for €25,000, creating a new water refill point. It functions identically to a fire station, with the exception that it can be sold for half its purchase price.
Placing and Removing[]
With the Facilities DLC installed, a Water Intake Point can be placed by accessing the Facilities tab between duties, clicking the Water Intake Point entry in the list, and then selecting a position on the map. You must have €25,000 available. There is no limit to the number of Water Intake Points you may place down on a map, or in a given district.
A Water Intake Point may be placed anywhere on dry land, including on roads, buildings, parks, or even wilderness - anything except water. You may place Water Intake Points outside your unlocked districts, if you wish. The money is spent only once the Water Intake Point is placed; you may cancel the purchase before then without any penalty.
A placed Water Intake Point may be sold for €12,500 (half the purchase price) by switching to Facilities mode and clicking the small "$" button next to the Water Intake Point's icon.
Water Refill[]
A Water Intake Point functions exactly the same as the fire stations that are already part of the map, being a refill point where fire vehicles may come to refill their water tanks. Vehicles cannot distinguish between fire stations and manually-placed Water Intake Points.
When a fire vehicle with less than 100% water in its tank leaves an incident site, it will automatically look for the nearest fire station, body of water, or Water Intake Point, drive to it, and refill its tank. The same thing occurs when pressing the vehicle's "refill water" button. You may also tell the vehicle to go to a specific Water Intake Point to drop off passengers, same as any fire station.
As with fire stations, there is no limit to the amount of water that can be drawn from any one Water Intake Point.
Placement Tips[]
The four drop-off facilities in the game, including the Water Intake Point, should be placed very carefully since they cannot be moved after placement (except for selling one off at half price, and buying a new one at full price - a substantial expense).
Water Intake Points are the least crucial to purchase on any given map, since there is almost always an existing refill point somewhere nearby. Often they are completely invisible, or very hard to see (such as tiny water ponds), making it very difficult to determine where to place a new one - or if one is needed at all. On most maps, there really is no need to place any Water Intake Points anywhere.
Should you discover that fire engines returning from a certain area of your map keep driving a long distance to refill, consider placing a Water Intake Point there.
Note that, as more districts become unlocked, distances on the map shrink; a Water Intake Point that was placed in a "remote" area early on in a campaign might turn out to be very close to another fire station by the time the entire map is unlocked. Remember this, and make sure to sell such Water Intake Points back if this happens.
Care should also be taken to determine the exact placement of a Water Intake Point. It is often best to zoom in as far as possible, and place the Water Intake Point close to a large, main street that can be reached easily from multiple directions. Placing a Water Intake Point away from the main street may require arriving units to go "off-road" as they reach the location, slowing them down substantially. Also, make sure to avoid two-lane highways, as vehicles approaching on the wrong side of the highway may have to drive some extra distance to make a u-turn. The best place to put a drop-off facility is right on top of a main, wide street where cars can make an instant u-turn. Roundabouts and intersections are also generally good.
