Tutorial is an Event in 112 Operator. It is always the first event to trigger at the very beginning of a Campaign game or a Junior difficulty Freeplay game. It does not occur in other Freeplay difficulties, nor in Scenario mode.
The event adds the Probation Period Objective, and forces one Call Incident (selected at random from a given set) to trigger during the first Duty.
In this event, the player character from 911 Operator has moved from the United States to Europe, and has applied for a job at an Emergency Management Center as a 112 Operator. He is hired for a probationary period, and is instructed to do a good job if he wishes to be contracted permanently for a whole year.
Effects[]
This event adds one Objective, and adds one Incident Call to the first duty of the game.
Objective[]
The Probation Period objective is added to the player's objectives list as soon as this event begins.
This objective tracks the player's Reputation. After three Duties have elapsed, the player's average Reputation must be 0 or higher (not negative) in order to fulfill the objective's requirements. Doing so rewards the player with €20,000 at the end of Duty #3.
Note, however, that it is not technically possible to have a negative reputation on any Duty, since that prohibits you from advancing to the next duty. Therefore, this objective cannot be failed; all you need to do is reach Duty #4 to complete it.
Tutorial Call[]
The event's primary effect is to add a randomly-selected Call Incident to Duty #1. The game chooses one call from a list of four possibilities (defined in devConfigExample.json):
These are all Level-0 calls, with fairly simple solutions, requiring little or no emergency unit response.
The selected call will usually be either the first or second call of the Duty.
Game Types[]
This event has different trigger conditions and/or effects depending on the type of game being played.
Campaign Game[]
The Tutorial event is the first event to trigger during any Campaign game. It will always occur on Duty #1.
The Pandemic Outbreak DLC does not change the timing or function of this event.
Freeplay Game[]
The Tutorial event can only happen in a Freeplay game that is played on "Junior" difficulty. It will never occur at any other difficulty level.
At "Junior" difficulty, this event is the first event to trigger, always on Duty #1. It is the only guaranteed event in any Freeplay game.
The Tutorial event cannot be switched off when starting a new Freeplay game.
This event is flagged as "not lonely", which means it may occur concurrently with any other event that is also "not lonely".
Once a Tutorial event has occurred during a Freeplay game, it cannot occur again for the duration of that game.
Scenario Game[]
There are no Scenario games that include this event.

Yours sincerely, <boss's full name>Emergency Management Center Manager | |
Since the event always ends on Duty #3, this e-mail can be read at the start of Duty #4.
Note that this event is tied to successful completion of the Probation Period objective, but since that objective cannot be failed (see above), you will always receive this e-mail.
Trivia[]
The Tutorial event has multiple configuration options in devConfigExample.json that are completely unused, and indicate that the game used to have (or was supposed to have) a proper tutorial at the start, to teach the basics. However, as of the 2nd Year Anniversary edition (2024), such a feature does not exist in the game.
