Technical Tools are a tool in 112 Operator that can be carried by any type of crew-member, boosting their Technical skill by +0.5 points. It can be placed in either the left or right tool slot (but not both), and costs €3,000 to purchase as part of any gear set.
Equipped on Firefighters, the +0.5 Technical bonus boosts their skill by a decent margin compared to their base skill level (which is usually between 2.0 and 3.5). With this bonus, the Firefighter can do 0.5 more Work per Second when resolving any technical issues, such as removing damaged cars from the road or breaking open a locked door - reducing the time it takes them to resolve that issue.
Note that this +0.5 bonus is exactly equal to the bonus provided by riding in a Technical Truck, and the two bonuses are cumulative with each other for a total of +1.0. With both bonuses together, it is quite possible to exceed a skill level of 4.0 - however that is the absolute cap. If the Firefighter has surpassed 4.0 skill, consider removing the Fire Extinguisher and giving it to someone else. It may be better to give this item to firefighters who are not in a Technical Truck, to improve their speed when tackling unexpected technical issues.
Both Police Officers and Medics may be equipped with Technical Tools as well. For them the bonus is quite substantial, since their base Technical skill is very low (0.5 for a rookie cop, 0.2 for a rookie medic). With Technical Tools in hand, officers and medics can actually solve certain technical issues on their own (without firefighter presence) at a slow but tolerable speed, or assist firefighters in resolving such issues. This can, for example, save the life of an injured person stuck behind a technical Obstacle, if police or medics get there first. Note, however, that some technical issues simply cannot be worked by police officers or medics.
The price tag of €3,000 is, however, a serious downside to this item. There are many other pieces of equipment that police or medics can use in their tool slots which will improve their performance at their own job, for a similar price. Consider this carefully before giving Technical Tools to a non-firefighter.
