A Taser is a police officer melee weapon in 112 Operator. It can only be placed into the Melee Weapon slot of a police gear set, and costs €1,000 to purchase as part of that set. The Taser is a Pacification weapon, with high accuracy and very low chance of injury, that will usually force a suspect to surrender after only 4 hits. This makes the Taser a good weapon for taking criminals out of fights rapidly without injuring them, though the price is non-trivial.
Description[]
"The weapon firing two small barbed darts that gives someone a small electric shock and makes them unable to move for a short time."
Overview[]
The Taser is generally unlocked several duties into a career, scenario, or freeplay game. It can only be added to a police gear set, and goes only in the Melee Weapon slot.
The Taser is strictly a Melee weapon, only firing at an opponent only if it is within melee range (1.5). If the officer has no Ranged Weapon, they will move to Melee range automatically. If the officer has any Ranged Weapon, they will use the Taser only if the opponent happens to enter Melee range for any reason, in which case the officer will fire both their ranged weapon and Taser at that opponent. This makes Tasers mostly effective against opponents armed with Melee weapons, as they will automatically step into Melee range themselves.
The Taser has a firing rate of 10, meaning that it attacks once per 10 seconds of real time (on SLOW game-speed).
The weapon itself has an Accuracy rating of 80%. In other words, the chance to hit the target with each attack is equal to 80% of the officer's own Accuracy skill. For example, an officer with 50% Accuracy has a 40% chance to hit the target with each attack of the Taser.
The Taser has a low Damage rating of 0.02, which represents both a low chance of injuring a suspect, and an inordinate amount of time taken to injure them. If the suspect does get injured, they will need treatment and transport to a hospital.
The Taser provides its use with a Pacification bonus of +0.30, making it far more likely to pacify the suspect than injure them. Pacification means that the suspect stops fighting and submits to an arrest instead of treatment. With a Pacification level of 0.30, it would take no more than 4 hits with a Taser to pacify any suspect; though it could happen earlier for various reasons.
The Taser is quite effective for its purchase price of €1,000. Definitely a step up from a Tonfa, but at 10 times the price. A Taser is not a good replacement for a Ranged Weapon, but will supplement one very effectively.
Note: With the Facilities DLC, the Taser is almost exactly as effective as a Tear Gas Sprayer, but costs twice as much. It's generally a good idea to wait for Tear Gas Sprayers to become available and purchase them instead.
