911/112 Operator Wiki

Surfer Searching is a Reported Incident in 112 Operator that is only available with the Water Operations DLC. While the incident is technically available to play, the game can't actually spawn it. In theory, this incident would only occur on water, and be reached only by water or airborne vehicles. It would be an uncommon incident that requires only medical response.

The incident cannot spawn because it requires a search to discover the location of the incident site. Since this incident always occurs in water, and search sectors can never be in water, there is no way for this incident to spawn at all.

The incident involves a surfer who has been carried by currents into deep water, and cannot get back to shore. Suffering from exposure, the surfer requires medical treatment followed by evacuation to hospital.

Inability to Spawn[]

The Surfer Searching incident requires the Water Operations DLC to be installed and active, but even then is simply cannot spawn in the game. Whenever the game tries to spawn this incident, it will fail, throwing an error in the console window. This is because the game can't possibly find a place to put the incident's Search site and search sectors - neither of which are allowed to be in a water sector.

This is the only Water Operations incident that is written as a Search-type incident, and therefore the only incident that will fail to spawn for this particular reason.

Theoretical Conditions to Spawn[]

For thoroughness, here are the conditions under which the incident should have spawned, if it could:

This incident could spawn only once stage-2 incidents have been unlocked. In Campaign mode, this happens on Duty #4. It would normally have been uncommon among water incidents, but would be common during Hot weather. Cold, Rainy, or Snowy weather would've disabled this incident entirely.

This incident would always have spawned some distance away from the shore, possibly even far into the ocean.

Search[]

The Surfer Searching incident would have begun with a Search Area and Automatic Search Site appearing on the map.

The Search Area is a rectangle, 3 sectors wide on each side - for a total of 9 sectors. One of these sectors (selected at random) contains the hidden incident site you're searching for.

Each sector requires 50 seconds of Search Work to complete. This can be done by any unit. Once the specific sector containing the hidden incident site is completely searched, the hidden incident site appears and the search is over.

Resolution[]

The search must be concluded within 600 seconds of real time (on SLOW game speed) or it will automatically fail the entire incident.

There is no reputation reward for completing the search itself.

The penalty for ignoring the incident before completing the search is -4, subject to multipliers from the current difficulty setting.

Once the search is completed, it reveals the Missing Surfer Scene (see below).

Missing Surfer Scene[]

This scene appears only once its specific search sector has been completely searched. All other search sectors, as well as the Automatic Search Site, disappear from the map.

Resolution[]

There is no time limit to reach this scene.

The highest reputation reward possible for resolving this scene is +2.

The maximum possible penalty for ignoring this scene (whether before or after it has been located) is -2, subject to multipliers from the current difficulty setting.

Description[]

This scene takes place in open water and contains only the surfer. The surfer is in good health, requiring only basic treatment from medics, and must also be evacuated from the water to a harbor or hospital.
