A Sniper Rifle is a police officer ranged weapon added in the 112 Operator Facilities DLC. The Sniper Rifle's main advantage is its ability to always take down its target with a single shot, coupled with a relatively high accuracy value enabling skilled officers to make that shot most of the time. However, it is both a very expensive weapon and very slow to fire, meaning that every shot must count in order for it to be competitive with other weapons. The price tag is also proportionally high.

Description[]

"Firearm with great firepower and accuracy. Requires long loading times."

Overview[]

The Sniper Rifle is available only in the Facilities DLC. It is typically the last police Ranged Weapon to become unlocked for police officers, well into a career, scenario, or freeplay game. It can only be added to a police gear set, and goes only in the Ranged Weapon slot.

The Sniper Rifle is a ranged weapon with a 20m range. It can shoot at any target so long as there is a clear line of sight. Otherwise, the officer may move until the target is within line of sight, first. If the officer also has a backup weapon, they will use that weapon alongside their Machine Gun as long as the target is within range of both. The need for a line of sight is a drawback when engaging criminals inside buildings, as the sniper must waste precious seconds getting into position.

The Sniper Rifle has one of the lowest Firing Rates of any weapon, at 25. That means it fires one shot every 25 seconds of real time (on SLOW game-speed), including its very first shot. It will typically be the last weapon to fire in any engagement, giving criminals time to engage first and potentially put officers at risk. Consider giving the officer a Tactical Utility Belt to speed up their firing rate a little bit.

The weapon itself has an Accuracy rating of 70%. In other words, the chance to hit the target with each attack is equal to 70% of the officer's own Accuracy skill. For example, an officer with 80% Accuracy only has a 56% chance to hit the target with each attack of the Sniper Rifle. With such an abysmally slow firing rate, every shot must count, so it is important to give this weapon to an officer with extremely high Accuracy, maximizing their chance to hit.

The main advantage of the Sniper Rifle is its Damage rating of 1.0, ensuring that a single hit is all that's required to injure the opponent, instantly taking them out of the fight and requiring them to be treated and transported to hospital.

The Sniper Rifle is something of an insurance policy: If other officers haven't managed to take down a suspect quickly, the Sniper Rifle usually will, once every 25 seconds. Of course, by that time, the criminals may have already made multiple attacks against the officer(s), putting them all at risk. As a result, it is best to mix the Sniper Rifle into a team of officers using other, faster weapons such as Rifles, allowing them to do the brunt of the work while the Sniper Rifle takes care of any criminals who have evaded injury thus far. Consider adding a melee weapon to the Sniper to give them some sort of fast weapon with which to attack any criminals who might get close. The high purchase price of €11,000 per Sniper Rifle gives this weapon another important downside to consider.
