The Riot Control Vest is a police officer personal armor in 112 Operator, that can only be placed in the chest slot. It becomes available partway into any career, scenario, or freeplay game, and costs €4,000 to purchase as part of a gear set for police officers.
The Riot Control Suit offers three different types of protection, the primary one being a Damage Reduction bonus of +15. While it is not entirely clear how this bonus works, it reduces the Damage value of any weapon attacking the officer by 15 points. This may either reduce the chance for the assailant to score an injuring blow to the officer spontaneously; increase the number of times the officer can be hit before they are automatically injured; or both. All in all, it dramatically increases survivability during combat.
Additionally, the Riot Control Suit provides +0.1 Explosion Resistance. This means that if the timer of a Bomb element happens to run out and the bomb explodes while the officer is On Site, the officer has a 10% chance of surviving the explosion uninjured. While not great compared to a Bomb Squad Suit's 95% chance, it's still better than nothing.
Finally, the Riot Control Suit offers a Fire Resistance bonus of +0.1 to the officer. This slightly reduces the chance of the officer getting injured while attempting to put out a fire. Officers are highly ineffective at this task, but sometimes attempt it anyway when, for example, a fire blocks access to civilian injuries.
The Riot Control Suit is highly effective in protecting officers from low-damage weapons, including Baseball Bats, Knives and even Handguns and Rifles. Theoretically, it should completely block all damage from Fists, though unarmed criminals (almost?) never attack officers. All in all, this is a good item to wear to protect officers from light weaponry, such as during violent riots, and may be of assistance during other dangerous situations as well. However, it's important that no armor provides perfect protection.
Description[]
"Protective equipment for policemen to be used during riots and protests."
Portrait Glitch[]
The Riot Control Suit alters the appearance of the officer's portrait, obscuring their face behind a heavy mask. Due to a bug in the current version of the game (2nd Anniversary), the Riot Control Suit may become a permanent part of the officer's default portrait (when not wearing any other portrait-altering clothes). This can only be fixed by manually editing the save file.
Availability[]
Available in the base game of 112 Operator.
