The Police Van is a large land-based police vehicle in 112 Operator, used mainly for responding to major criminal incidents, especially early in the game. Its primary feature is a very large capacity for both officers and arrested criminals, providing a lot of firepower, resolving complicated incidents quickly, and then transporting multiple criminals to jail. The vehicle also offers some protection to its crew. Its relative high speed and low cost when compared to a Special Forces Van keeps it useful right through the late stages of the game.
Description[]
"Van can be used to transport larger groups of suspects, but it is not as fast as other vehicles."
Overview[]
The Police Van is a land-based police vehicle that is usually available right at the start of any career, scenario, or freeplay game. It complements the basic Patrol Car by delivering many police officers to the scene all at once, and carrying many arrested criminals to jail.
The Police Van is slower than a Patrol Car, at a top speed of only 120. Coupled with a slightly lower acceleration value of 4, it is less useful for both chases and searches (though it can still perform both with some degree of effectiveness). It also loses most of its speed offroad (down to 30) and in traffic (full penalty applied).
On the other hand, the Police Van is one of the largest-capacity vehicles in the game. For one, it can deliver 4 officers simultaneously to an incident site, and can also carry away 4 arrested criminals to jail. This makes the Police Van extremely useful as a backup vehicle for major criminal incidents, such as shootouts, gang wars, protests, and evacuations. 4 police officers working together can quickly clear such a scene, often without any help from any other vehicle. Still, additional backup is always invaluable if multiple armed combatants are involved.
The Police Van is in direct competition with the Special Forces Van that is unlocked later in the game, with both vehicles having similar properties. The Police Van is a bit faster (compared to the SF Van's top speed of only 100), but costs "only" €80,000 (compared to the SF Van at a whopping €150,000!). The Special Forces Van, on the other hand, is particularly adapted to combat, providing its team members with extremely strong protection, compared to the Police Van's mediocre armor value of 4.
Another comparison must be made with the Water Cannon, which can also deliver 4 police officers to a scene, costs slightly less than the Police Van, and has a few other very important abilities; but cannot carry any arrested criminals to jail. These differences make these two units non-interchangeable in many situations.
