Pickpocket is a Reported Incident in 112 Operator. One of the more common incidents, it requires only police response, with a small chance of a fight. It has only one incident site, which requires a chase. This incident can spawn on any Duty, including the first one, in any type of game.
The incident involves arresting a pickpocket after they had reportedly stolen a wallet. The pickpocket is attempting to flee on a bicycle. They are unarmed, but may try to attack police anyway. They must be arrested and taken to prison.
Conditions to Spawn[]
The Pickpocket incident may begin spawning on the very first duty. This is true for any type of game.
This incident is twice more likely to spawn in a Slum district, compared to all other types of districts.
Snowy or Rainy weather reduces the chance of this incident spawning by half. Windy weather also reduces the chance, to a lesser degree. Windy weather coupled with snow or rain makes this incident quite rare.
This incident may spawn in the vicinity of a Demonstration, if insufficient units are sent to supervise it. The chance of spawning relative to other types of incidents depends on the violence level of the Demonstration, becoming less common as the Demonstration becomes more violent.
Resolution[]
The Pickpocket incident must be reached within only 300 seconds of real time (on SLOW game speed) or it will automatically fail. This is an exceedingly short window of opportunity to catch the pickpocket - about 1.5 hours on the game clock - so fast chase units are highly recommended.
The Reputation reward for resolving this incident is +1.
The penalty for ignoring this incident is -1, depending on multipliers from the current difficulty setting.
This incident cannot be stopped by a Speed Camera.
Scene Elements[]
The Pickpocket incident contains one chase scene with a single police element. However, since a fight may occur, medical units may need to be on stand-by to respond as well.
Chase[]
This scene begins to move as soon as it spawns. Its maximum speed is only 35, which means that any police unit - except, ironically, Police Bicycles - can catch it fairly easily. Note that while Horses can catch up to this incident eventually, the chase could take so long that the time runs out and it fails automatically; better use a faster unit.
The driver has no Police Avoidance value defined, which means that they will make no effort to evade police during the chase.
Description[]
The scene contains only the criminal, who is unarmed. Police must arrest the criminal and take them to prison.
However, note that the criminal may occasionally attempt to fight the police, which could potentially result in injuries. Police armed with only Melee Weapons are much more likely to end this incident quickly and without the need to involve medical units.
