Parking Violation is a Generic Call Incident featured in 911 Operator. The storyline is rather short, involving a man calling to report that a car is parked where it shouldn't be. There is a total of seven different endings to this call, depending mostly on which question the operator asked first, and on completely random chance.
As a Generic Call, Parking Violation can be triggered during both Free Play and Career Play, multiple times.
Opening Lines[]
This call may begin with any of three different responses from the caller.
Speaker | Line |
---|---|
Operator | "911, what's your emergency?" |
Caller | "Hello, I want to report an illegally parked car." |
"Um... there's a strange car parked here." | |
"Hi, there is a strange car parked here. Could you check it?" |
Randomized Plot Structure[]
The caller's responses to each question are randomized. They could lead to any of seven different endings, each with its own Reputation reward and On-Site scenario.
The call is structured as follows:
- Following the opening lines, the operator may choose one of three questions. Each question has three possible responses from the caller, chosen at random (33% chance for each).
- In most cases, the caller's response immediately sets the selected ending for this call.
- If the ending hasn't been selected yet, the operator gets to switch to one of the other questions. It can take no more than 3 questions to select an ending, though it'll usually take just one - making this one of the shortest possible calls.
- Finally, the operator gets to decide what to tell the caller (either you'll send units or won't), though this choice literally makes no difference.
There are no "bad endings" to this call per se, though some are obviously better than others. About half of all choices allow the call to be IGNORED, while all others require a police response and may lead to a small fine being collected. As a result, this article is split into two sections based not on "plotlines" but on whether or not the player prefers to just get the reputation quickly and be done with it.
Reputation[]
In this call, the default Reputation reward is +1, but (almost) every ending will alter this value to something else. Only one ending retains the +1 reward, and that ending can be "re-rolled" if the operator doesn't want it.
Caller Response | Resolve Call Reputation | Ignore Call Reputation |
---|---|---|
(ANSWER CALL) | +1 | |
Caller reports "No Parking" sign | Set to 2 | |
Caller reports car is blocking traffic | Set to 3 | |
Caller says car is parked in "his spot" | Set to -2 | Set to 2 |
Caller says car is blocking pedestrians | Set to 1 | Set to 1 |
Caller says car is parked on private property | Set to -1 | Set to 1 |
Caller says cars are not allowed to park there for safety reasons | Set to 3 | |
Maximum possible: | 3 | 2 |
Ignoring the Call[]
Three of the seven endings allow you to IGNORE the call for an instant Reputation reward (see table above).
All three of these endings lie behind the question WHAT'S CONCERNING?
; You have a total chance of 83% to trigger one of them if you ask this question.
If any of these endings is triggered, you may ignore the call as soon as your options come up. There is no need to waste time on additional questions or on telling the caller what you intend to do.
Of course, ignoring the call means that you won't be able to get the $1,000 fine from resolving the incident on-site. This is a trade-off that must be considered before asking the first question, because all endings that allow you to give the car a ticket reside behind PROHIBITED AREA?
. If you want the money and a chance at more Reputation points, choose that question instead.
Note: If the caller reports that the car has left "not enough space to walk through", you can either ignore the call OR send units to fine the car - and get +1 Reputation in either case.
Plot[]
Depending on how you prefer to see it, this call either has seven plots with one ending each, or one single plot with seven different possible endings.
To make things simpler, this article treats the call as having just a single plot. However, there are two separate Optimal Conversation sections below, to show you how to increase the chance of certain endings occurring, for a more specific reward based on your needs at the time.
Summary[]
A man calls 911 to complain about a parked car. The operator asks several questions regarding where it car is, why the caller believes the car is prohibited from parking there, and/or why the caller was so concerned. These may elicit a variety of responses, such as the car being parked in the middle of traffic, or that the caller simply thinks the parking spot belongs to them.
The caller's response determines the operator's reaction; They may simply send units to question the caller and tow the car away, fining the driver for $1,000. If the call turned out to be frivolous, it might instead be ignored. In some rare cases, it turns out that the car is actually suspicious, though police will check it out and find nothing actually wrong with it.
On Site[]
- On arrival, police will always find the caller. The parked car may or may not be there, depending on circumstances.
- The caller must always be questioned by police.
- The car will be present in most endings, in which case it must be given a parking ticket, earning you $1,000 as soon as the element is resolved.
- If the caller complained that the car was parked in "their spot", it will not be present at all; questioning the caller will resolve the incident immediately.
- If the caller reported that the car was parked in an area that's restricted for safety purposes, it will be replaced by a "suspicious car" which must simply be checked by police. No fine will be issued in this case, though you get +3 Reputation for resolving the incident, making this a fairly good ending.
- In any case, there is no reason to send more than one police unit, and you can even use a unit that does not have any transportation slots (e.g. a Police Bike).
Optimal Conversation: Parking Ticket[]
The Optimal Conversation instructions below maximizes the chance of getting an ending which allows you to fine the parked car for $1,000. It also leads to relatively high Reputation rewards.
If you instead wish to maximize the chance of being able to IGNORE the call altogether, but give up any chance for a fine, check out Optimal Conversation: False Alarm, below.

Switching Conversations[]
If the caller was unsure why the car is parked illegally, your reward for the call will be only +1 Reputation and the $1,000 received for fining the car.
If you don't want to send units, and don't care so much about the $1,000 fine, it's better to switch to the other conversation instead at this point, by asking WHAT'S CONCERNING?
. Simply skip to that part of the conversation below instead of continuing the conversation above.
Optimal Conversation: Frivolous Call[]
The Optimal Conversation instructions below maximize the chance of getting an ending where you can simply IGNORE the call and receive Reputation points instantly, without having to send any units. Note however that there is a ~16% chance of getting an ending that does require you to send a police unit, doesn't give you any money, but does reward +3 Reputation (the maximum for this call) when resolved.
If you instead wish to get $1,000 for resolving the incident, and maximize the chance at a higher Reputation reward, check out Optimal Conversation: Parking Ticket, above.
