- "I know the procedures, it's not the first time he's gone missing. First time I can't find him though."
Missing In Storm is a Call Incident in 112 Operator. This call will not trigger on its own; it will only be triggered by the Storm event. The call can spawn up to three scenes (including one search area), and ultimately requires only basic police response. The call dialogue is completely predictable (no randomized responses from the caller).
The incident involves an old man with Alzheimer's disease who has wandered out of his daughter's house and into the wilderness during a heavy storm. The concerned daughter calls 112 to request assistance in finding him. Police units are sent out to interview the daughter while also combing the area for the father. He's found trapped under a fallen tree, but uninjured.
Unfortunately, the incident is scripted in such a way that actually looking for the old man is a waste of police time.
For the best solution to this call, see this guide.
Opening Lines[]
| Speaker | Line | |
|---|---|---|
| Operator | 112, what's your emergency? | |
| Caller | Hello. I would like to report a missing person... | |
Trigger Conditions[]
The Missing In Storm incident is a scripted incident; it cannot spawn unless specifically triggered by an Event.
In Campaign and Freeplay mode, this incident will only be triggered on the second Duty of the Storm event. This always happens on Duty #14 in Campaign mode. In Freeplay mode, the Storm event may or may not occur at all, depending on multiple factors.
This incident is also triggered on the second Duty of the Frankenstorm Scenario in New York City.
Structure[]
The Missing In Storm incident is a Call Incident, which begins with a phone conversation with a citizen. The call is completely predictable: it contains no randomized responses from the caller, and the outcome depends entirely on choices made by the operator; the same choices will always lead to the same results.
This incident contains a total of three sites: The Concerned Daughter Scene, a Search Area, and the Lost Dad Scene. None of these sites is visible at first.
The Concerned Daughter scene can be located during the conversation by asking the woman for her address. If this question is skipped, the location will be traced about 450 real-time seconds (on SLOW game speed) after the start of the conversation.
The Search Area will only spawn if the woman is told that police units will search for her father. Subsequently, the Lost Dad scene will be discovered once the search is completed.
Other than this, none of the conversation options make any difference at all. In fact, due to an oversight by the script's writer, it is better to not look for her father at all, whether she was promised it or not!
Call Summary[]
The Missing In Storm incident occurs during a terrible thunderstorm. It begins with a woman calling 112 to report that her father has been missing for four hours after going outside for a walk. She says he has Alzheimer's disease, and may have wandered into the forest beyond her back yard. He's left his phone behind, and cannot be reached.
The operator asks whether the woman has exhausted all other possibilities. She replies that she's had to look for her father before, so she knows the drill - she's called all of his friends, and every hospital in the area. She is sure that he is lost.
The operator agrees to send units to look for the old man. A police unit also arrives at the woman's house to get his description and the sequence of events. Eventually, the old man is found trapped under a fallen tree, and is easily rescued. Fortunately, he was not harmed.
Alternative Ending[]
Instead of sending units, the operator could tell the woman that she has to wait 24 hours before filing a missing person report. This option prevents police from being able to search for the old man - but it has absolutely no impact on your reward for resolving the scene (or ignoring it).

Concerned Daughter Scene[]
This scene only appears on the map once either of the following conditions is met:
- The caller was asked for her location.
- About 450 seconds of real-time have elapsed (on SLOW game speed) from the moment the conversation began.
The scene contains one police element.
Description[]
This scene takes place at the caller's house. She is the only element present, and requires only basic questioning by police.
Resolution[]
There is no time limit to reach this scene.
The reputation reward for resolving this scene is +3.
The penalty ignoring this scene is -3, subject to multipliers from the current difficulty setting.
NOTE: This is the only scene that has any Reputation Reward or Ignore Penalty. As a result, it is the only scene that needs to be resolved in order to win the entire reward. Even if the Search Area has appeared, it can be safely ignored once the Concerned Daugher scene has been resolved, without incurring any additional penalties!

Search Area[]
A Search Area and Automatic Search Site appear on the map if the caller is told I WILL SEND SOMEONE. The search area will always be close to the Concerned Daughter Scene.
The Search Area is a rectangle, 5 sectors wide on each side - for a total of 25 sectors. One of these sectors (selected at random) contains the hidden incident site you're searching for.
Each sector requires 50 seconds of Search Work to complete. This can be done by any unit. Once the specific sector containing the hidden incident site is completely searched, the hidden incident site appears and the search is over.
Resolution[]
There is no time limit to completing the search. There is no reward for completing the search, either.
There is no penalty for ignoring the search, no matter how many sectors have been completed. Since there is also no reward or penalty for the hidden scene, the entire search is pointless, and can safely be ignored once the Concerned Daughter Scene has been resolved.
Once the search is completed, it reveals the Lost Dad Scene, described below.

Lost Dad Scene[]
This scene only appears on the map once the correct Search sector has been completed. It will appear inside that sector. At that point, all other search sectors and the Automatic Search Site disappear.
The scene contains one basic police element.
Description[]
This scene takes place outdoors, where a tree has fallen over. The old man is lying next to the tree.
The old man is not injured; he simply needs to be questioned by police.
Resolution[]
There is no time limit to reach this scene.
There is no reward for resolving this scene, nor a penalty for ignoring it. It simply makes no difference.
