- "Hey there is a fire! FIIIIREEE! RUN AWAY!"
Fire in the Woods is a Call Incident in 112 Operator. This call will not trigger on its own; it will only be triggered by the Heatwave event. The incident contains only a single scene, which never actually appears on the map; Instead, the incident always ends with a Major Fire spawning nearby. The call dialogue is completely predictable (no randomized responses from the caller).
The incident involves a man who reports a fire that has broken out in a forest. The only thing the caller can help with is to localize the fire. Firefighters will then have to contend with a rapidly-spreading fire at that location.
For the best solution to this call, see this guide.
Opening Lines[]
| Speaker | Line | |
|---|---|---|
| Operator | 112, what's your emergency? | |
| Caller | There's fire in the woods! | |
Trigger Conditions[]
The Fire In The Woods incident is a scripted incident; it cannot spawn unless specifically triggered by an Event.
This incident will only occur in Campaign mode [please verify], triggered by the Heatwave event. While the event is not unique to Campaign mode, the Campaign script specifically requires Fire In The Woods to occur, and also specifies the location of the resulting Major Fire depending on which city is being played.
The incident occurs on Duty #12 of the campaign, on the very last Duty of the Heatwave. It usually occurs during the first half of that Duty, either before or after Murderer Spotted.
Structure[]
The Fire in the Woods incident is a Call Incident, which begins with a phone conversation with a citizen. The call is completely predictable: it contains no randomized responses from the caller, and the outcome depends entirely on choices made by the operator; the same choices will always lead to the same results.
This call has only one scene, but no matter what choices are made, the scene is immediately resolved as soon as the phone conversation ends. A Major Fire then spawns on the map at very specific coordinates, depending on which city is currently being played.
The phone call does, however, determine how many Reputation points are rewarded for the auto-resolved incident scene. It does not affect any aspects of the Major Fire itself.
Call Summary[]
The Fire in the Woods incident occurs near the end of a heat wave that had been oppressing the city for some time, as well as a series of arson cases throughout the city. A man calls 112 to report that he has spotted a fire in the woods.
The operator asks the man for the location. He gives a rough description, but says that the smoke can easily be spotted from a distance. The operator thanks the caller and instructs him to flee the scene.
Alternative Choices[]
The operator can instruct the man to try and put out the fire himself, though the man doesn't have anything that could remotely help.
Alternatively, the operator can instruct the man to call for help, but there is no one else in the vicinity.
Neither of these options change the outcome, though they do waste a lot of time.
Negative Ending[]
The operator could instruct the man to stick around, in order to show the incoming firefighter teams where the fire is. The man argues that the fire can be seen from a great distance. If the operator insists, the caller passes out from the smoke and fumes.
Whether or not the operator insists that the man stay on the scene, this option reduces the Reputation reward for this scene (but not for the fire itself) from +3 to 0.
Forest Scene[]
The Fire in the Woods incident contains the script for a scene which will never appear on the map. It is there simply to control the Reputation reward, penalizing the player for making unwise choices during the phone conversation.
The scene contains a single element which resolves itself as soon as the scene is created (which happens in only one specific phone conversation path), which causes the entire scene to be resolved. If the scene was not spawned on the map at all, the game automatically resolves it, thanks to a special instruction in the script. No matter what you do, the scene resolves itself, so units cannot be sent there.
By default, the Forest Scene carries a reward of +3 Reputation points. This is the reward you get for this scene in most endings, including even if you simply click the "End Call" button.
The only way to change the reward is to select STAY AND HELP THEM!, which reduces it to 0 (no points gained or lost).
There is no way to ignore this scene; it resolves itself before the button appears.
