The Fire Dinghy is a fire-fighting boat that was added with the 112 Operator Water Operations DLC. The smallest of the fire-fighting boats, it carries only 2 firefighters and has a relatively low speed compared to similar vehicles, but compensates for this by being rather cheap: it costs about half as much to purchase and maintain as the next larger fire boat.

A large fleet of Fire Dinghies - in lieu of a fleet of Fire Boats that would be half the size while costing about the same amount of money - has some potential advantages to consider.

Description[]

"Cheap but slow means of water transport for firefighters. Equipped with basic tools to help firefighters."

Overview[]

The Fire Dinghy is the smallest, cheapest, and slowest of all the fire-fighting boats. It is only added to the game by the Water Operations DLC. The Fire Dinghy will typically be unlocked as soon as your first water district comes under your direct control - sometimes right at the start of a career, scenario or freeplay game.

The Fire Dinghy carries only two firefighters, and provides neither of them with any bonuses to their skills. Furthermore, it is one of the slowest boats in the game, traveling at a maximum speed of only 125 - comparable to a Brush Truck on land. This makes it harder for a Dinghy to react quickly to distant events, and it will take longer to resolve incidents once it gets to them.

The upside is that the Fire Dinghy is very cheap compared to other firefighting water vehicles, at a purchase cost of only €33,000. This is just over half as much as the cost of a single Fire Boat (€60,000). As a result, you can double the number of firefighting water vehicles at your disposal by forfeiting speed and skill bonuses. It's also important to note that two Fire Dinghies carry a total of four firefighters compared to one Fire Boat carrying only three - increasing the number of available firefighters on the water by 33% for roughly the same price.

As a result, a viable strategy is to rely on a large number of Fire Dinghies instead of purchasing Fire Boats or larger; thus creating a highly-versatile fleet that can spread out over the entire body of water, reacting quickly to incidents by simply sending as many boats as necessary to resolve them. More boats means much more flexibility, being able to react to more incidents simultaneously while retaining overall effectiveness.
