The Fire Amphibious Vehicle is an all-terrain fire-fighting vehicle that was added with the 112 Operator Water Operations DLC. It is the only non-airborne fire vehicle in the game that can drive on both water and land, and does so without any complications or loss of speed. It also remains rather quick when going offroad and through traffic. However, with a crew of only 2 firefighters and no skill bonuses provided, it is relatively poor at putting out fires and resolving technical issues - on par with a Fire Dinghy or Quad. This can be a serious drawback, considering that the Fire Amphibious Vehicle is relatively expensive to buy.
Description[]
"An amphibious vehicle used by the fire service. It can travese land and water."
Overview[]
The Fire Amphibious Vehicle is a fire-fighting vehicle added only in the Water Operations DLC. It is often unlocked in the later stages of a career, scenario, or freeplay campaign, and only if water districts have already become available on the selected map.
The main defining property of the Fire Amphibious Vehicle is that it can drive on both land and water. In both cases, it has a maximum speed of 105 - slightly faster than a Fire Truck, but slower than any of the other boats available in this DLC. It is therefore best used for patrolling a shoreline, enabling it to react to incidents both in the water and outside it with equal effectiveness. It can also be used in an area with multiple canals or a river without bridges, allowing it to quickly go across as though the water wasn't even there.
Furthermore, the Fire Amphibious Vehicle only loses 10% of its speed when driving offroad, making it one of the fastest vehicles for reacting to incidents in parks and other difficult-to-reach areas. Despite its size, it is also one of the fastest land vehicles when traveling through traffic jams - suffering only 50% of the normal traffic speed penalty compared to most other vehicles. All in all, this is a good vehicle to use when road access is limited.
In terms of incident effectiveness, however, the Fire Amphibious Vehicle carries only 2 firefighters, and does not provide them with any additional bonuses to their skills, making it about as effective as a Fire Dinghy on water, or a Quad on land. It does nevertheless carry 4 units of water, which should be enough to handle a medium-sized fire incident on land without having to refill - an ability that comes in very handy for resolving fire incidents inside parks. While handling water incidents it has an infinite water capacity, just like any boat.
Unfortunately, the Fire Amphibious Vehicle has a very serious drawback: its purchase price of €85,000. For €5,000 less than that, you could purchase both a Quad and a Fire Boat to handle incidents in the same general area with roughly the same effectiveness. Alternatively, you could save some money and buy a Helitack, which is both more effective and significantly faster. Finally, if you're interested in the Amphibious Vehicle's ability to resolve incidents inside parks, consider the utility (and comparative cost effectiveness) of buying two or three Quads instead.
