The Field Hospital is a land-based vehicle in the 112 Operator Facilities DLC. Though understaffed for actual medical work, the Field Hospital's primary function is to serve as a mobile Policlinic (hospital). It can deploy anywhere it can get to, creating a Policlinic that works the same as a regular hospital, allowing other medical units to drop off any number of injured passengers there. This Policlinic remains where it is until the end of the duty, at which point it reverts into a Field Hospital vehicle.
Description[]
"A mobile medical unit that supports medical services. After setting up the wounded can be transported here."
Overview[]
The Field Hospital is a unique land-based fire-fighting vehicle added by the Facilities DLC. It is unlocked for use only a handful of duties after the start of a career, scenario, or freeplay game, usually together with the Hydrobank and Mobile Police Station.
Although the Field Hospital does carry a single medic, and can be sent to resolve medical incidents (about half as quickly as any other medical vehicle), this is not the vehicle's actual purpose. Instead, the purpose of the Field Hospital is to create a new, temporary Policlinic anywhere on the map, in order to assist other units in quickly drop off injured passengers evacuated from incidents nearby.
Once the Field Hospital is driven into the desired position, a button in the vehicle's info tab (lower left corner of the screen) can be clicked to DEPLOY the vehicle at that position. The Field Hospital instantly disappears, replaced by a small box that counts up to 100% over the course of a few seconds. Once it reaches 100%, it is replaced by a Policlinic that functions the same as any permanent hospital. Any number of medical vehicles can visit this location to drop off any number of injured passengers there. This temporary hospital remains at its location until the end of the duty, and is then transformed back into a regular Field Hospital vehicle. There is no way to "undeploy" the temporary policlinic manually.
Field Hospitals are useful during mass-casualty land-based situations (such as train accidents) that happen to spawn far away from any existing hospital or Policlinic on the map. Localized "spawner" type events (such as demonstrations or a concert) can also benefit from a nearby hospital, as medical incidents begin to appear all around them. Simply park the Field Hospital next to the incident, deploy it, and then the units evacuating injured people from the incident site only need to drive a very short distance to drop off their passengers. Note that boats will not be able to visit this Policlinic, as it does not count as a Harbor even if placed directly on the shoreline!
Naturally, the Field Hospital is a substitute for placing a stationary Policlinic facility. Though it is far more expensive - costing €110,000 compared to just €45,000 for a stationary point - it can be moved to a new place on each duty, whereas a stationary Policlinic cannot. Depending on the map's layout, this could either be an important ability or completely useless.
In terms of driving properties, the Field Hospital moves at a mediocre speed of 90, which is almost as fast as an Ambulance. It loses almost none of its speed when going offroad, either.
Note: Although the Field Hospital can theoretically carry an infinite number of patients, and has plenty of room in its on-site image, it actually cannot carry any of them while in vehicle form.
