"We need to secure the landing site. Some people might get seriously injured. There will be a lot of people panicking too"

Emergency Landing is a Call Incident in 112 Operator. This call will not trigger on its own; it will only be triggered by the Emergency Landing event. The call dialogue is completely predictable (no randomized responses from the caller).

This call includes only one scene, which requires massive police and firefighter response. Failure to resolve this scene before the plane lands not only results in a massive loss of Reputation, but also in multiple difficult incidents spawning in its vicinity.

The incident involves an air traffic controller at a nearby international airport, calling the 112 dispatch center to alert them of an imminent emergency landing that's about to take place. The controller requests police and firefighter presence at the airport, to clear the runway and keep the public out of the area. The operator is also advised to send medical units for the aftermath of the landing.

For the best solution to this call, see this guide.

Opening Lines[]

Speaker Line
Caller This is the air traffic controller from the international airport. A plane is about to make an emergency landing in a few minutes.

Trigger Conditions[]

The Emergency Landing incident is a scripted incident; it cannot spawn unless specifically triggered by an Event.

This incident always begins the Emergency Landing event, and its location determines where other incidents related to the event will spawn.

In Campaign mode, the Emergency Landing event always occurs on Duty #16.

In Freeplay mode, the Emergency Landing event can happen on very different Duties depending on the selected difficulty level:

  • "Junior" difficulty: may not happen before Duty #17.
  • "Middle" difficulty: may not happen before Duty #14.
  • "Senior" difficulty: may not happen before Duty #2.
  • "Principal" difficulty: may happen on any Duty.

Additionally, this event is the focus of the Plane Crash scenario which takes place in Stockholm, and will always happen on the first duty of that scenario.

In all cases, the Emergency Landing incident happens exactly 337 seconds of real-time (on SLOW game speed) after the start of the Duty.

Structure[]

The Emergency Landing Accident incident is a Call Incident, which begins with a phone conversation with an official. You do not need to answer the call - the conversation will automatically begin as soon as the incident triggers.

The call is completely predictable: it contains no randomized responses from the caller, and the outcome depends entirely on choices made by the operator; the same choices will always lead to the same results.

This incident includes only a single scene, whose location is revealed immediately once the airport controller finishes speaking his opening lines.

Additionally, once the conversation ends, the plane itself will appear at an off-map position, and begin traveling towards the airport; it is a visual indicator of the time remaining to resolve this incident. Success or failure determines which incidents will spawn at the airport after the plane reaches it.

Call Summary[]

The Emergency Landing incident begins with one of your dispatchers requesting your attention to an incoming call. On the other end of the line is an air traffic controller from one of the nearby international airports.

The controller informs 112 that a medium-sized passenger airplane, carrying approximately 100 people, is about to attempt an emergency landing at the airport due to problems with its landing gear. The plane has only one shot at the landing since it is already in the process of dumping all of its remaining fuel, in order to prevent it from catching fire on the runway if anything goes wrong.

The controller requests firefighter presence at the airport, to clear the runway and prepare for a potential fire; medical presence, in case of injuries; and police presence to clear out on-lookers.

The operator promises the caller to send as many units as possible.

Sub-optimal Endings[]

The operator can ask multiple pointless questions about the landing that have no bearing on the required emergency response. For example, he can ask why the plane is making an emergency landing, or why it only has one attempt to stick the landing. The operator can also argue with the caller by suggesting that airport personnel should be enough to handle the situation themselves, without support from the city's emergency units; suggest that the call is a prank; or suggest that it's not as serious as the caller claims.

All of these questions lead to a deduction in your score.

Airport Scene[]

The Emergency Landing incident only has one scene, which appears as soon as the air traffic controller finishes speaking his opening lines.

The scene always appears at an airport, as defined by the map files. In Freeplay games, the airport is selected at random (assuming there's more than one within the player's current jurisdiction). In Campaign games and the Plane Crash scenario, the specific coordinates of the airport are pre-defined, so the incident will always occur in the same exact spot.

The scene contains one firefighter element and one police element. They are both very substantial.

Description[]

This scene takes place on the runway. There are two elements here: Preparing the area for a landing, and securing the area.

Preparing the landing is a firefighter Tech job, which requires a whole 2,000 Work Seconds to resolve. This should be handled by at least one experienced and/or well-equipped technical crew. Fortunately, multiple firefighters can work on it simultaneously, but even then it could take over 500 real-time seconds to resolve (on SLOW game speed). Speed is of the essence, and you should consider sending at least two technical crews.

Similarly, the Securing the Area element is a policework element which requires 2,000 Work Seconds to resolve. This is even more of a problem, because policework does not take bonuses from officer equipment into account; only officer experience helps here. Therefore, multiple police units are practically required in order to resolve the incident before the landing occurs.

Sending multiple units to the location is also a good idea because they will be needed in order to handle the post-landing incidents, whether the landing succeeds or not.

For this reason, it's also a good idea to send at least a couple of medical units to the incident site (or at least keep them very close by), to make sure they're within reach when the plane finally lands.

Resolution[]

This scene must be reached within 8,000 seconds of real time (on SLOW game speed) or it will automatically fail. This is far longer than the length of an entire Duty, but it isn't the actual time limit: The scene will automatically fail if the plane reaches it before it could be resolved.

The default (and maximum) Reputation reward for resolving this scene is +30.

This incident cannot be "ignored" like most other incidents, but the penalty for failing to resolve it in time is -30, subject to multipliers from the current difficulty setting.

Both the reward and the penalty are adjusted negatively if the following dialog options are selected:

  • WHY IS THAT?: -1 point.
  • MORE RISKY THAN HAVING ONE ATTEMPT?: -3 points.
  • CAN'T YOU HANDLE IT?: -5 points.
  • IS THIS A PRANK?: -3 points.

It is possible to hit every single one of these bad options within a single conversation, for a maximum reduction of -12 points.
