A Dog Bite is an invisible melee weapon in 112 Operator that is equipped by default on every Police Dog. It cannot be purchased nor removed, nor can its statistics be viewed in-game. Though attacking as fast as a Rifle, and causing more damage per hit as well, the Dog Bite suffers from very poor accuracy, and does not hit very often. Nevertheless, the Dog Bite makes police dogs rather dangerous combatants.
Overview[]
The Dog Bite is a weapon equipped to every Police Dog by default. It cannot be purchased separately, and cannot be removed from the dog. In fact, it does not even appear next to the dog's portrait anywhere in the game, and its properties can only be inspected by reading the game files.
The Dog Bite is a Melee Weapon, requiring the Police Dog to move next to the targeted criminal in order to attack.
Once in range, the Dog Bite has a firing rate of 4, attacking once per 4 seconds of real time (on SLOW game-speed). This makes the Dog Bite one of the fastest weapons in the game, on par with a Rifle.
The weapon has an Accuracy value of 75%; however in practice it will only hit about 25% of the time. This may have to do with the Police Dog's hidden accuracy stat, which is part of the game's code and not viewable even in the save files (all dogs are listed as having 0.0 Accuracy in the save files). This gives the Dog Bite a low chance of hitting the target, but the high attack speed means it'll get many attacks in, mitigating this low chance.
The Dog Bite has a Damage rating of 0.5, giving it a 50% chance of injuring the opponent with each hit, instantly taking them out of the fight and requiring them to be treated and transported to hospital. If the first hit did not injure the suspect or scare them into surrendering, the second hit always will.
This weapon makes Police Dogs rather dangerous combatants, capable of subduing a criminal quickly thanks to their high attack rate. The inability of a dog to wear any armor can be mitigated by placing them in heavy vehicles (like the Police Van or Special Forces Van), which provide armor to any occupants. The inability of dogs to perform most other police tasks, however, is an important trade-off to consider.
