Chemical Spill is a Reported Incident in 112 Operator. This rare incident requires substantial firefighter as well as minor medical response, and has only one incident site. It can only spawn once level-2 incidents have been unlocked (on Campaign mode, this happens on Duty #4).
The incident involves a truck that has flipped over in the course of a traffic accident, spilling a large amount of dangerous chemicals on the road. A large traffic jam has formed around the site. Firefighters must make their way to the scene to clear both the chemicals and the truck itself off the road to allow traffic to resume. Additionally, the driver has been injured in the crash and requires on-site treatment, but not transport to hospital.
An error in the script allows this incident to be completely Ignored without any penalty. It can even be ignored to gain Reputation points under certain conditions.
Conditions to Spawn[]
The Chemical Spill incident can only spawn in stage 2 of the game. In Campaign mode, this begins on Duty #4. It is a rare incident in most circumstances.
This incident has an equal chance to spawn in any type of district.
Snowy weather or Rainy Weather increases the chance of this incident spawning by 50%.
During a Tornado, this incident has a small chance to spawn in the path of the funnel itself.
Similarly, this incident has a small chance to spawn during an Earthquake.
Resolution[]
The Chemical Spill incident must be reached within 600 seconds of real time (on SLOW game speed) or it will automatically fail.
The reputation reward for resolving this incident is +5.
Due to a script oversight, no base Ignore penalty is defined for this script, so it defaults to 0. As a result, you may ignore this incident at no cost to your Reputation. Furthermore, resolving some scene elements before ignoring the incident actually increases the penalty to positive numbers, awarding you reputation instead of penalizing you. It is possible to gain +4 Reputation from this incident, which can be achieved by only sending firefighters to the scene - removing the need to send medical units unless you want that extra point.
Scene Elements[]
This incident contains one scene with combined firefighter and medical elements. While the medical element is minor and easy to resolve, the firefighter elements require substantial tech work.
Description[]
The scene takes place at the site of the crash, with the flipped truck lying on its side, and a large pool of chemicals on the ground. Both the truck and the chemicals are tech elements. Additionally, the injured driver of the truck is lying on the road next to the cabin.
The chemicals and the truck itself require a large total amount of tech work from firefighter. The chemicals take 800 Work Seconds to clear out, while the truck takes between 1,400 and 1,900 Work Seconds. This can take quite some time, even for a well-equipped crew. It is typically better to send two crews, if available, to speed things up.
The truck driver is a much simpler element, mildly injured but not dying, and not requiring any transportation to hospital.
Ignore Penalty[]
Due to a scripting error, if the incident is ignored before any elements are resolved, you will not lose nor gain any Reputation points.
Resolving each element pushes the "Ignore Penalty" above 0, rewarding Reputation points instead of removing them, if the scene is ignored part-way through. Each of the Tech elements is worth +2 points for this purpose, while the injured driver is worth only +1.
By sending only firefighters to this scene, and ignoring the scene after they resolve both Tech elements, you gain a total of +4 Reputation. This is very handy if you have free firefighter units on hand, but no medical units are available to treat the driver. Otherwise, it's better to just resolve the entire scene and get the full +5 reward.
