Broken Water Pipe is a Reported Incident in 112 Operator. A common incident, especially in Industrial districts, it requires only firefighter response. It has only one incident site. This incident can spawn at any stage of the game, including the very first Duty.
The incident involves a water pipe that has burst and is spilling water onto the street. Firefighters must first fix the leak, then clean up the spilled water. The longer it takes to fix the leak, the more work must be done to clean the water. Meanwhile, the incident causes a traffic jam to spread throughout the area.
Conditions to Spawn[]
The Broken Water Pipe incident can spawn at any stage of the game, from the very first Duty onward. This is true for all game modes.
This incident has the highest chance to spawn in Industrial districts. It is much less likely to spawn in Business districts and Parks.
This incident can only spawn in a building. Note that there are sometimes buildings inside Parks and other off-road areas.
Broken Water Pipes never occur when it's snowing, since the water in the pipes is already frozen.
This incident is very common during an Earthquake.
Resolution[]
The Broken Water Pipe incident must be reached within 900 seconds of real time (on SLOW game speed) or it will automatically fail. While this isn't a particularly urgent time limit, the work required to resolve this incident increases with every second that it isn't attended.
The highest reputation reward possible for resolving this incident is +3.
The maximum possible penalty for ignoring this incident is -3, depending on multipliers from the current difficulty setting.
Scene Elements[]
The Broken Water Pipe incident contains one scene with two different firefighter elements. The interaction between these elements is crucial.
Traffic Jam[]
As soon as this scene is created, it begins to generate a Traffic Jam that will expand at a rate of 0.03 along every connecting street.
The Traffic Jam will slow down all ground-based units attempting to travel through it. Smaller vehicles move faster through Traffic Jams, and airborne vehicles ignore them completely.
As soon as the scene is resolved, the Traffic Jam will begin to clear, from the center outwards.
Description[]
The scene contains a leaking pipe, and the water it has already spilled onto the street. These are both Technical elements.
The water pipe much be fixed first, since it blocks access to the leaked water. As long as the water pipe remains unfixed, the leaked water element becomes worse, requiring more work to resolve. Fixing the water pipe instantly stops this deterioration.
Ignore Penalty[]
Fixing the leaking water pipe reduces the Ignore penalty to just -1 (compared to the normal -3). If so much water has leaked that the work would take too much of your firefighters' time, it may be best to ignore the water puddle and send the firefighters elsewhere.
