911/112 Operator Wiki

Broken Traffic Lights is a Reported Incident in 112 Operator. A rare incident, it has only one scene which requires firefighter response and substantial police response. This incident can only spawn once level-3 incidents have been unlocked (in Campaign mode this happens on Duty #9).

The incident involves a set of malfunctioning traffic lights at an intersection, which have caused a serious traffic jam. Firefighter technicians must be sent to the site to repair the lights as soon as possible to return traffic to normal. Until they can get it done, police officers must direct the traffic themselves.

Conditions to Spawn[]

The Broken Traffic Lights incident can only spawn once stage-3 has been unlocked. In Campaign mode, this occurs on Duty #9. Even then, the incident is quite rare.

This incident is most likely to happen in Business districts, and least likely to happen in Park districts, compared to all other district types.

This incident may only spawn on a road.

With The Last Duty DLC, this incident cannot occur once the Infected have appeared.

Resolution[]

The Broken Traffic Lights incident must be reached within 600 seconds of real time (on SLOW game speed) or it will automatically fail. Note that the traffic jam spreads rapidly, and could pose a problem for other units operating in the area as long as it is not resolved. Additionally, the required on-site work to resolve this incident increases with every passing second.

The reputation reward for resolving this incident is +1.

The penalty for ignoring this incident is -1, depending on multipliers from the current difficulty setting.

Scene Elements[]

The Broken Traffic Lights incident contains one scene with both a firefighter element and a police element. The two elements are interlinked in an important way.

Traffic Jam[]

As soon as this scene is created, it begins to generate a Traffic Jam that will expand at a rate of 0.9 along every connecting street. This is a very high rate, which will usually result in a massive traffic jam around the incident before it can be resolved.

The Traffic Jam will slow down all ground-based units attempting to travel through it. Smaller vehicles move faster through Traffic Jams, and airborne vehicles ignore them completely.

As soon as the scene is resolved, the Traffic Jam will begin to clear, from the center outwards.

Description[]

The scene takes place in the road, with the broken traffic light pole lying on the ground. There are two elements on the scene: A techwork element called "Broken Traffic Lights", and a policework element called "Traffic Direction".

The tech element takes between 400 and 800 Work Seconds to resolve. While not a major amount of work, it will take some time; this is very important because of how it affects the policework element.

The policework element only takes 1 Work Second when this incident first appears on the map, but it grows by +4 Work Seconds with every real-time second that passes (on SLOW game speed). This growth rate is massive, to the point where even 4 officers working together might struggle to stop this growth, not to mention actually resolving the element.

Fortunately, as soon as the tech element is resolved, it stops the policework element from growing. Only then can police officers switch from slowing down the element's growth to actually resolving it.

Due to this interaction, it is very important to send a good firefighter technical unit to the site as soon as possible, to solve it quickly. Otherwise, the policework element can easily grow to massive proportions, taking officers a lot of time to resolve. Remember that up to 4 firefighters can work the tech element simultaneously, and up to 4 police officers can work the policework element simultaneously.
