The Amphibious Ambulance is an all-terrain medical vehicle that was added with the 112 Operator Water Operations DLC. It is the only non-airborne medical vehicle in the game that can drive on both water and land, and does so without any complications or loss of speed. Other than this ability - and a hefty pricetag - it is identical to the Medical Dinghy, carrying 2 medics and up to one injured passenger. These features make it somewhat overpriced, though it can still serve a good purpose in specific situations.
Description[]
"An amphibious vehicle used by medical crews that can traverse land and water. Capable of transporting a small number of injured people."
Overview[]
The Amphibious Ambulance is a medical vehicle added only in the Water Operations DLC. It is often unlocked in the later stages of a career, scenario, or freeplay campaign, and only if water districts have already become available on the selected map.
The main defining property of the Amphibious Ambulance is that it can drive on both land and water. In both cases, it has a maximum speed of 110 - slightly slower than a Medical Dinghy - making it one of the slowest water vehicles in the game. Unable to quickly cross large bodies of water, it can instead be used for patrolling a shoreline and reacting to incidents both in the water and outside it with equal effectiveness. It can also be used in an area with multiple canals or a river without bridges, allowing it to quickly go across as though the water wasn't even there.
The Amphibious Ambulance carries 2 medics, like all other medical water vehicles. Just like the Medical Dinghy, it can only carry one injured passenger back to hospital, limiting its usefulness for larger medical emergencies; but it is still useful for treating minor incidents such as a drowning man, burning boat, heart attack, etc.
Despite its size, the Amphibious Ambulance is very nimble when going through heavy traffic, suffering only 50% of the normal speed penalty (same as a Medical Response Motorcycle). An acceleration value of 5 also makes this vehicle useful for conducting a manual, sector-by-sector search. However its offroad speed - just like all other medical vehicles - is severely impaired, at just 27.
Unfortunately, the Amphibious Ambulance has a very serious drawback: its purchase price of €85,000. For just €4,000 more, you could purchase both a Medical Dinghy and a standard Ambulance to handle incidents on water and land (respectively) in the same general area more effectively. Thus, the Amphibious Ambulance's utility is dubious, though it might still be useful in areas with multiple canals, where neither a boat nor a land vehicle would have an easy time patrolling freely.
