Abandoned Package is a Reported Incident in 112 Operator. It is one of two incidents with identical names and similar properties. This particular incident is a real bomb threat. For the fake bomb threat, see Abandoned Package (False).

This is a rare incident that requires only police response. It has only one incident site. This incident can only spawn once level-3 incidents have been unlocked (this happens on Duty #9 of a Campaign game).

This incident involves a report of an abandoned package in a crowded place, which is suspected to be a bomb. Police must arrive at the site, evacuate it, and only then inspect the package to determine whether it is really a bomb. In this particular version of the incident, the package is a real bomb, which will explode if not defused in time. Police may also sometimes have to interrogate between 1 and 3 witnesses.

Defusing the bomb requires a lot of work. This can be sped up greatly with dedicated equipment (e.g. a Defusal Kit or Robot). You have plenty of time to complete the task, but failure to defuse the bomb can cause injuries to both your officers and the bystanders, greatly complicating the scene and costing a lot of Reputation points.

Conditions to Spawn[]

This version of the Abandoned Package incident can only spawn once level-3 incidents have been unlocked. In Campaign mode, this happens on Duty #9. Until that happens, all "Abandoned Package" incidents will be fake; afterwards, it's advisable to treat them all as real. At that point, around 1 in every 4 Abandoned Package incidents contain a real bomb.

This version of the incident may spawn in the vicinity of a poorly-managed Concert, though still not very commonly.

With The Last Duty DLC, this incident will never spawn after the Infected begin to attack.

Resolution[]

This version of the Abandoned Package incident must be reached within 600 seconds of real time (on SLOW game speed) or it will automatically fail. However, it is extremely important to reach the site and start defusing the bomb quickly, as it will explode exactly 1,000 seconds after the incident spawns.

The reputation reward resolving this incident is +5.

The maximum possible penalty for ignoring this incident is -40, which occurs if the bomb has already exploded. This doesn't even include any potential penalties from deaths on the scene. This is the main reason why bomb threats should always be considered real (at least after level-3 incidents have been unlocked).

112 IncidentIcon P Bomb Scene Elements[]

The Abandoned Package incident contains one scene with multiple police elements.

Description[]

The scene is an open space, with between 2 and 5 citizens present, as well as the abandoned package itself. There is also an additional policework element called "Securing the area".

Before the package can be dealt with, police must first secure the area. This is a policework element that requires anywhere between 100 and 300 Work Seconds. Note that this work ignores any skill bonuses from officer equipment, so it may be a good idea to send multiple crews to the site to resolve this as quickly as possible. Experienced officers can also help speed it up.

Once security has been established, the package can finally be inspected. It is a "bomb" type element, which requires 120 Work Seconds. However, the rate at which officers resolve it is based on the "Defuse Bomb" skill, which is extremely low by default (a rookie officer has around 0.1 Defuse skill). Only specialty equipment, such as Defusal Kits or Robots, can speed this up to an acceptable rate of work; otherwise it can take whole minutes of real time (on SLOW game speed) for a police team to do the same amount of work.

In addition, between 1 and 3 of the citizens on site are witnesses who must be questioned by police. Officers will usually prefer to handle the package first, so again multiple police crews can help speed things up by questioning the witnesses in the meanwhile.

Bomb Timer[]

The scene has an invisible timer element which starts ticking as soon as the incident site appears on the map. It counts exactly 1,000 seconds of real-time on SLOW game speed. When it reaches 0, the bomb explodes.

The explosion is powerful enough to injure anyone on the scene, including bystanders and crew members. There is roughly a 25% chance for any person on the scene getting struck. The chance of death appears to be very low (possibly 0%), but heavy injuries are common. Anyone injured by the bomb requires medical treatment and usually transport to hospital.

Additionally, allowing the bomb to explode reduces your reward from this scene to -15, whereas the penalty for ignoring the scene drops all the way to -40.

The explosion should also remove the "Securing the area" element from the scene automatically; but for some reason this doesn't always happen.
