A Drifting Man is a Reported Incident in 112 Operator that is only available with the Water Operations DLC. It can only occur on water, and reached only by water or airborne vehicles. This rare incident requires only firefighter response, and has only one incident site. It can start occurring on the very first duty of any game.
The incident involves a person on an inflatable mattress who's been carried away by currents, deeper into the water. The mattress must be towed back to shore by firefighters - a job so trivial that it can actually be performed by non-technical crews, in a pinch.
Conditions to Spawn[]
The Drifting Man incident requires the Water Operations DLC to be installed and active. This incident can spawn on any Duty in any game mode. This incident is normally rare among water incidents.
This incident may only spawn in a Water district. If the player does not control any water districts, the incident cannot spawn. This incident will always spawn some distance away from the shoreline, sometimes even far into the ocean. It cannot occur in narrow rivers or canals.
This incident is twice as common during Hot weather, though that still makes it uncommon relative to other water incidents. During Cold, Windy, Rainy and/or Snowy weather, this incident may not spawn at all.
Resolution[]
The Drifting Man incident must be reached within 1,000 seconds of real time (on SLOW game speed) or it will automatically fail. This quite a long time window - nearly half a Duty.
The reputation reward for resolving this incident is +1.
The penalty for ignoring this incident is -1, subjected to multipliers from the current difficulty setting.
Scene Elements[]
This incident contains one scene with only a single firefighter element.
Description[]
The scene takes place in open water, with only the drifting mattress element present. This is a tech element that requires only 100 Work Seconds to resolve.
Any firefighter crew will resolve this incident in mere seconds, including even a small Fire Dinghy or similar vehicle. In fact, the job is so trivial that even a police or medical unit (if no firefighters are available nearby) can resolve it themselves within a reasonable timeframe.
